Smart Luxury: JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo

We stayed at the JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo, currently ranked #2 of all the hotels in Sapporo. As we have planned for a free n easy trip, the hotel location is our most important consideration.

Best location in Sapporo right on top of JR Sapporo, with lots of shopping around

Next to Daimaru Shopping Centre

Lots of eateries at Esat next door
Jetso Tip :
Booking directly from the hotel website is the best option as there were not many third-party sites offering the bookings. Rates were similar to the hotel site. We paid about S$300 per night as we were visiting in Summer, the peak season in Hokkaido.

Spacious lobby
Free flow of drinks like lime cordial are available at the lobby
What I like :
1) Central location. Easy to get from JR station to the hotel as we were lugging 2 big pieces of luggage. Connected to 4 malls, with 7-Eleven right below where we stocked up all kinds of snacks, beer and drinks every night.
2) Magnificant view on the 30th floor. As we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, hotel even gave us a lovely teddy bear.
3) Excellent service. We were treated like royalty the moment we stepped into hotel. The concierge service is excellent and offered us a lot of help in providing English maps and guidance on booking hot spring tour.
4) Very clean and well maintained. Nice big bath area to shower and have a good soak.

What could be better:
1) The size of room is extremely small and sound proof not good. We can hear the laughter from next door.
2) We asked for extra pillows as the ones given were too soft. The reply was that there was no extra pillow available. Unbelievable for a hotel of this size and price ! No effort was made to offer the extra pillows if they become available.
3) No complimentary bottled water and coffee. You have to pay for these standard items.

The hotel also has one of the best spas in Sapporo with breath-taking views but we did not have time to visit the spa. Check out the pictures here.
Jetso Tip:

  • Ask for higher floor south facing units to get a view of the ferris wheel.
  • Do sign up for the One Harmony  loyalty card if you make frequent visits to Japan. It's free of charge with English instructions online.
Minus points : Queen size bed, no extra pillows and very small room

Clean and spacious bathroom
Big tub for soaking

South side of hotel offers best views
Day view where you can see Mt Moiwa among other mountains

Spectacular night view from room with ferries wheel and Sapporo TV Tower lighted up
